Mission
At Prairie Tab Children’s Ministries, our mission is:
“To create young disciples who know and follow Christ in a nurturing and
exciting environment using teachers who are equipped and curriculum that
is God-centered and engaging.”
We are dedicated to the following:
1. Instructing the next generation in the truth of the Bible through
engaging, loving teaching.
2. Partnering with families in leading children to the personal
knowledge of salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ.
3. Changing the lives of children by connecting them to Christ through
worship, fellowship, discipleship and outreach.
4. The equipping and mentoring of teachers to ensure growth in them as
well as in the children.
The health of children, both spiritual and physical, is important to us.
We strive to ensure that the children are taught in a clean, safe
environment. All of our Children’s Ministry volunteers have current
police checks in place for the children’s safety.
Purpose
Why do we need children’s ministry at the Prairie Tabernacle
Congregation?
First, we need children’s ministry because children matter to God. Jesus
made this clear throughout the Gospels, and God even refers to us as His
children. Jesus even recommended to His disciples that to understand
God’s kingdom, they needed to observe, learn from and imitate young
children (Mark 10:13-16).
Second, we need children’s ministry because children need to learn about
God. Children need more than mere entertainment or pacification. Every
child needs a relationship with Christ, and a solid education that comes
from the home and from the church is vital to that happening. We
recognize that not every child has an ideal home life where God’s word
is taught and lived out, so now more than ever the church has a
responsibility to carry out the command in Psalm 78:4:”We will tell the
next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, His power, and the
wonders He has done.”
Third, we need children’s ministry because it provides for the future.
What if for the next fifteen years a group of people made it a priority
to nurture and disciple children in their spiritual growth and
development? As the Prairie Tabernacle Congregation is renowned for
sending out missionaries all over the world, how would this commitment
change not only the face of our church, but the city and the world?
Finally, we need children’s ministry because it is the best investment
we can make. Recent statistics state that there is a greater probability
that a child will accept Jesus Christ as their savior between the ages
of 5 and 12. After that, the percentage drops dramatically. In many
situations, church may be the only place a child will experience the
love and truth of God. It is imperative that we do our utmost to bring
every child within our reach to an understanding of God and His
salvation plan. We recognize the need for parental involvement. Children
learn most of their moral values and life skills through their parents.
If the church and parents are teaching and modeling the same lessons and
values, then these precious ones will have double the opportunity to
accept them. |
